Ted Emery's essential question for the project is "Why can't a piece of art that only lasts 6 hours be iconic in culture?"
In relation of the time span of a piece of art to is popularity some art like the Mona Lisa or the statue of David are timeless. Ice sculpture on the other hand lasts 6 hours at room temperature. Through experiencing what its like to be in the ice carving business, a few things can be said; a block of ice isn't as cooperative as marble, and your tools aren't as delicate as a paint brush!
Written by Ted Emery
Ted spent 2 weeks at our shop and learned to carve basic shapes and created the piece "Pop Ice" shown above. He also learned to carve his schools logo in ice! Great Job Ted!
